Slayers fanart + gift prize winner!

Hey there! Another kinda ho-hum week, so, for today, I have some more high school art for you to look at! This time, it’s a fanart of the character Lina Inverse from Slayers:

It looks like I dated the signature on the picture as 1999, so I must have drawn this when I was in 9th or 10th grade. I remember that at that time, I had met some people in an anime chat room (totally nerdy, I know) who wanted to put together a Slayers RPG and make a website for their group. Since it sounded like fun, I agreed to make some Slayers images for their website and I worked together with their webmaster who taught me a lot of what I know about html today. Although the group didn’t last long and the site didn’t really take off or get finished, making all of the Slayers art definitely had an effect on me and the way I draw even still today.

Back then, I inked mostly using a felt tipped pen, so I’m sure that’s what I used to ink this. I colored this with watercolors over a photocopy of the inked image (I liked how the watercolor didn’t stick to the carbon of the photocopy, so I would work knowing that the lines wouldn’t bleed).
