Tracing paper sketches
Written by Renee on August 31, 2009 – 6:30 pm -
About 2/3 into penciling Festering Romance, I switched over to working initially on tracing paper and then transferring those drawings onto the page of “pencils.” For the entire last part of the book, every panel was drawn on a different small piece of tracing paper, rotated and arranged on the panel how I liked it, and then traced onto a sheet of computer paper in the final layout. I have a little drawer full of these pieces of tracing paper…
Just another part of the overly complicated process involved in making Festering Romance!

Someone send me back to Japan

Tasty parfait from Japanese Denny’s
I want to eat at a Japanese Denny’s again. And have way more tonkatsu and hamburg steak than a gut can handle… JAPANNNN…

Some more of that convenience store bread would be nice too…
Oh yeah, and for all that other cool stuff in Japan too.
Thanks for checking in today, and check back Friday for a new post!

Important events in my life, part 1
Written by Renee on August 21, 2009 – 6:30 pm -How I choose dish soap at the grocery store.

Also, this is how well I draw on the computer even with a tablet. Very sophisticated, I know.

Favorite San Diego Zoo moments?! (with video!)
Written by Renee on August 17, 2009 – 6:30 pm -
As I mentioned last post, Kyle and I visited the San Diego Zoo while we were in California. I don’t think I’d ever been to a zoo before, so this was a big experience for me! Armed with my camera and a few days of free time, we trekked around the zoo for two whole days. Here’s my top 10 zoo moments (with a few videos too!):

10. This majestic camel

9. Sleepy ducks (not very exotic, I know… but aww…)

8. Koalas!

7. Wallabies!

6. The Skyfari air tram system. Not only saved our feet many times, but fun!
5. Lizard food feud. I think they were iguanas. You can hear Kyle & I’s amazing commentary.

4. Panda sleeping in a tree
3. Baby anteater riding atop mama anteater. Hear all our dumb commentary and aww’s!

2. Awesome polar bear fight

1. Secret monkey hugs! After the crowds around these monkeys would disperse and only Kyle and I were left sitting on a bench looking at them, the monkeys would gather back together and give each other some rather earnest embraces with little pats on the back and everything! This isn’t a picture of the best monkey embrace, but you can get the idea. I guess even monkeys need moral support.
